ONLY TWO WINES
Two Wines. No Distractions.
Rather than producing many labels, we dedicate all our attention to crafting only two wines: one white and one red. Our objective is not quantity, but to produce the best wines we possibly can.
To achieve this, we work with small vineyard parcels and harvest only enough fruit to fill a single tank of up to 3,000 liters at a time. Each parcel is vinified separately as a single-vineyard wine, allowing every vintage to express the true character of its origin.
The vineyards we work with are located across the Pafos region from the limestone hills of Kathikas, to the rolling landscapes of Polemi, and the higher-altitude vineyards of Panayia. Each location brings its own soils, climate, and personality.
During tastings at Nayia Winery, visitors can discover these differences and experience how terroir shapes the character of each wine.
NAYIA X25
Our white wine celebrates Xynisteri, Cyprus’ most important indigenous grape variety.
Cultivated on the island for centuries, Xynisteri produces wines of freshness, balance, and elegance, perfectly suited to the Mediterranean climate. At Nayia Winery, each vineyard parcel is bottled separately without blending between locations, allowing every bottle to reflect the character of its origin.
The result is a wine with vibrant freshness, subtle citrus notes, and the mineral character typical of Cyprus’ limestone soils.
Each vintage tells a slightly different story, shaped by the vineyard and the season.
NAYIA MMM
Our red wine is built around Maratheftiko — the legend of Cyprus’ red varieties.
Maratheftiko is admired and feared at the same time. It is a demanding grape that challenges both farmers and winemakers. Some years it refuses to cooperate, producing very little fruit or fruit that is difficult to work with. In those years, many growers prefer not to harvest it at all.
But when nature aligns, Maratheftiko rewards patience with wines of deep color, intense aromas, and remarkable character. These rare vintages are a true celebration of the grape.
Each year the final blend is determined by the enologist, who evaluates the vintage and decides how the wine should best express itself.
The blend brings together Maratheftiko, Merlot, and Mataro (Mourvèdre) three varieties selected for their complementary characteristics. Each contributes elements the others lack, creating a balanced wine with structure, complexity, and depth.
Depending on the vintage, the wine may also rest in neutral oak to allow gentle micro-oxygenation, enhancing complexity while preserving the purity of the fruit.
Wines for the Future
The grape varieties we have chosen are also well suited to the challenges of climate change.
Their natural adaptation to heat and drought makes them particularly resilient in Mediterranean regions like Cyprus. By working with these varieties and respecting the land, we aim to produce wines that remain authentic and expressive for generations to come.
Two wines - Two expressions of Cyprus.
One philosophy: focus, precision, and respect for the land.
